The character I attempted to depict for this project is The Sailor or Atlas, a pirate-like character that travels various parts of a mysterious world and loves collecting objects and relics from the places he visits.

I definitely did not have enough time for the images because I fell behind on this project, so I'd like to talk about the different images, what I would've liked to include if I had more time, and overall what went right, what went wrong, and what I learned.

The first image is of Atlas peering at a ship in a bottle. The original concept was that assorted bottle ships would represent memories, or sort of a snapshot of different past periods of life. If I had more time I definitely would've made the bottle more "themed" and flesh out that idea more. I'm not too proud of the image quality of some of the components that I picked as well.

What I think did go well is the hue adjustment of the pirate's coat and the background as well; I used a combination of adjustment layers for the background to get the color and contrast just right.

This is by far the one that turned out the best. I combined different elements then brought down the lightness a lot to make the silhouette. I think the warping, placement, color adjustment, and shading I added to the compass also worked really well.

With this one I wanted to depict the sense of fear with losing your sense of direction, symbolized by the compass that detached from the string that Atlas is holding as it sinks into the dark depths.

This image is supposed to show Atlas's love of collecting. Using the perspective tool on the map on the table was definitely a lot trickier and used a lot more finessing. If I had time I would of loved to flesh out the sense of his collection more and maybe add some sort of candle lighting.

This was my image made with illustrator, starting with tracing from the bottle ship image. This definitely could get more fleshed out, but it took a bit of trial and error to find the right brush and settings, so I'm proud of how that turned out to add a little bit of a fabric texture.

Overall in the future, I definitely want to mind the scale of my ideas in addition to improving my time management and starting sooner. Personally there is definitely more to be desired from the outcomes, but I learned a lot.
